CCA @ Zhonghua

Co-Curricular Activities are a key component of students’ holistic education. Through CCAs, students discover their interests and talents. With the aim of preparing our students for future challenges, CCAs develop their character, imbue them with social emotional competencies and skills. Students from diverse backgrounds come together to develop friendships and deepen their sense of belonging to the school and community.

In Zhonghua Primary School, students start CCAs at Primary 4. Our school values: Care, Diligence, Discipline, Harmony, Integrity and Resilience are the bedrock of our programmes and it is our goal to instil these values in our students. Students can choose from any of these 4 categories:

  • Clubs (Peak Club, Infocom Club)

  • Physical Sports (Football, Volleyball, Sepak Takraw, Badminton)

  • Uniformed Group (Scouts)

  • Visual and Performing Arts (Chinese Dance, Malay Dance, Indian Dance, Choir, Visual Arts)

Football

Through our football programme, the students are taught to develop mental strength, strong physique and clever wits. We will teach the students the importance of team work and this can only be accomplished through good relationship with teammates. In line with the school's values, football is a sport that develops a holistic player who is DISCIPLINED.

Sports

Sepak Takraw

The Sepak Takraw team puts strong emphasis in ensuring that student athletes are equipped with strong moral values, and are able to juggle and cope with their academic work. The team learns sportsmanship and RESPECT for the opponents, which will serve them well in the future.

The Volleyball CCA equips all players with the necessary skills to enjoy the game and to participate at a competitive level. To match up to the dynamic demands of the sport, players go through a training programme that is designed to improve their all-round athletic ability as well as game technique and tactics. Players are given opportunities to represent the school in various competitions. They demonstrate the school value of RESILIENCE as they strive towards excellence.

Clubs

Environmental Science

In Environmental Science or used to be known as PEAK Club, the pupils learn to demonstrate responsibility and care for the environment by working DILIGENTLY in various workshops and hands-on activities that promote waste management. They have also gone through series of 'upcycling' workshops where they convert unwanted materials into new materials or products of better quality and environmental value.

Scouts

Uniformed Group

The aim of Scouts CCA is to develop servant leadership and nurture our scouts to become useful cadets with sound moral character through outdoor adventure and team building activities, as well as showing CARE to the community through involvement opportunities. For the 8th consecutive year, we clinched the Gold Award in the Frank Cooper Sands Award which is an annual award given to units who have performed well for the previous year.

In Choir, the students are provided with a holistic education where they are taught to develop music literacy, interest and skills in singing. By working together, the students also develop performance excellence, build character and confidence. The choir training programme focuses on voice projection, breathing techniques, and aural training.

Performing Arts

Visual Arts

The Art Club is a platform for our students who have burning passion for Visual Arts to showcase their artistic talents. Members are able to explore with various mediums and learn different techniques to create expressions of art. To deepen their appreciation for Visual Arts, our members are exposed to various artefacts and artwork of both local and international artists during their weekly art sessions. It is a joy to see students from different levels coming together in HARMONY to create art pieces together.

Performing Arts - Dance

The Dance CCA aims to help aspire student dancers, with or without prior dance experience. The end result is that all students develop the confidence and critical awareness to appreciate dance and to pursue it beyond their primary school experience. We also aim to develop their fitness, flexibility and technical dance strengths.
